In the Wilderness

Mark 1:-9-15

At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. Just as Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted[a] by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Message: Are you being called into the wilderness? Are you already walking through a time of struggle? Why are you facing these things? Today’s message looks at when Jesus was tempted in the wildernes for 40 days.  As you listen to the Word of God, may your should be blessed.

Responsive Prayer (during message):

Send your Spirit on us Lord

So we can surrender our losses, trusting you’re with us

We ask for your strengthening Lord

Because the temptation to be powerful compels us

We ask for your mercy Lord

Especially for those who suffer, and are struggling with weakness and despair

We ask for your comfort Lord

And we pray for those in pain and grief who need your healing touch

Would you forgive us Lord

For all the times we try to know too much and hurt others with our words and actions

Thank you for your promises

And thank you for your word from Isaiah that reminds us:

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
